Shura Council Approves Real Estate Registry Draft Law

Muscat, 20 May (ONA) — The Shura Council today endorsed two key legislative proposals: a draft law amending provisions of the Arbitration Law in Civil and Commercial Disputes and the Real Estate Registry Draft Law. Both measures, submitted by the government, were subsequently referred to the State Council to complete the legislative process.

The approvals came during the council's 10th regular session of its second annual term (2024–2025) within its 10th legislative period (2023–2027). The session was held under the chairmanship of Khalid Hilal Al Maawali, Chairman of the Shura Council.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman emphasized that the session's agenda focused on reviewing and approving several government-referred draft laws. These measures, he noted, represent continued efforts to strengthen Oman's sustainable development framework and build upon existing achievements.

During deliberations, council members examined both the proposed amendments to arbitration regulations and the new Real Estate Registry framework. Following discussions, the council formally adopted the recommendations of its Public Services and Utilities Committee regarding a draft air transport agreement between Oman and the Kyrgyz Republic.

The session also addressed additional legislative proposals forwarded by the Council of Ministers, including: the draft National Geospatial Data and Information Law, the draft Unified Industrial Regulation Law for GCC member states and the draft Sports Organizations Law.

The Shura Council is scheduled to convene its 11th regular session tomorrow “Wednesday” to consider the draft Civil Society Organizations Law, another government-submitted proposal.
