Higher Education Ministry Announces Qualifiers to Geneva International Inventions Exhibition

Muscat, 13 Jan (ONA) --- The Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation today announced the four projects shortlisted to represent the Sultanate of Oman in the 50th Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions 2025, scheduled to be held in the Swiss city of Geneva from 9 to 13 April 2025.

Dr. Saif Abdullah Al Haddabi, the Ministry’s Research and Innovation Undersecretary, told Oman News Agency (ONA) that Oman’s participation in the event seeks to showcase individual innovations implemented by the Ministry. He added that Omani youth are capable of competing in local and global innovation contests.

The four shortlisted projects were presented by:

· Mahmoud Al Hinai, who devised a new cleaning and sterilization system for air-conditioning;

· Layan Al Rahbi, who developed a language application to bridge the communication gap between “the deaf and mute” and the rest of society;

· Dr. Huda Ali Al Hosni, who developed an application named “Scientific Traveller” to provide alternative visions for some natural tourist sites in Oman; and

· Mu’ayad Sameer Al Balushi, who devised an SOS salvage system for fishing boats. His project offers an innovative solution to enhance maritime safety and ensure the wellbeing of fishermen in the Sultanate of Oman and the GCC region.
