Musandam Governor: Khasab Hospital Represents a Qualitative Leap in Healthcare Services
Khasab, 10 Jan 2026 (ONA) — The inauguration of Khasab Referral Hospital in the Governorate of Musandam marks a new stage in the path of healthcare development, translating national approaches aimed at enhancing the efficiency of the healthcare system and modernizing its infrastructure. This reinforces the principle of equity in healthcare delivery and aligns with aspirations for comprehensive development and improving the quality of life for citizens and residents.

Sayyid Ibrahim Said Al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, stated in a remark to Oman News Agency that the inauguration of Khasab Referral Hospital represents a milestone in the development path of the healthcare system in the Governorate of Musandam and a strategic achievement that translates the governorate's approach towards modernizing infrastructure and enhancing the preparedness of the health sector. Its importance stems from its role in refining healthcare services within the governorate, thereby solidifying the efficiency of health coverage, strengthening the healthcare system's ability to respond to various challenges and medical needs, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to both citizens and residents alike, he noted.
He added that this project embodies the wise vision of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, which affirms that the human being is the essence, goal, and means of development. Extending the highest levels of healthcare across all governorates of the Sultanate of Oman, including Musandam, reflects the wise leadership's keenness to entrench developmental justice and elevate the quality of life for every citizen and resident on this benevolent land, he affirmed.
The Governor of Musandam indicated that this project is expected to yield sustainable improvements in the quality of healthcare through the integration of advanced diagnostic and treatment technologies with specialized medical cadres.

He mentioned that providing modern equipment will inevitably lead to enhancing the accuracy of clinical results, reducing waiting lists, and improving the patient journey within a technological system characterized by speed, transparency, and high efficiency, whereas previously citizens had to travel to other wilayats and governorates. This contributes to alleviating burdens on patients and their families, bringing healthcare services closer with higher quality and efficiency.
He affirmed that the hospital will play a fundamental role in supporting social development and enhancing the quality of life in Musandam Governorate by establishing a healthcare safety system, which is a pillar of community stability. This role is consistent with the targets of "Oman Vision 2040," which places the health sector among the priorities of the Human and Society pillar, through creating an integrated health system committed to the highest global standards to ensure sustainable health for society, the Governor said.
He clarified that the project contributes to improving the quality of life index by providing an integrated healthcare environment that supports the physical and psychological well-being of individuals. Furthermore, the hospital contributes to enhancing employment policies by absorbing young national competencies, achieving economic and social empowerment for families in the governorate.
The Governor of Musandam pointed out that the health sector constitutes a main tributary for economic development in Musandam Governorate. Advanced infrastructure is a fundamental requirement for enhancing the investment attractiveness of the governorate, whether in the tourism or logistics sectors. He indicated that the presence of a hospital of this level reduces the economic costs wasted on external treatment and opens promising prospects, transforming the governorate into an integrated development attraction center.
