Environment Authority Documents Nesting Sites of Ospreys in Musandam Governorate

Khasab, 12 Nov (ONA) --- The Environment Authority recently conducted a field study to monitor and document the nesting sites of ospreys in the Governorate of Musandam.

The study was part of the Environment Authority’s ongoing efforts to enhance programmes ofmarine biodiversity conservation in the Sultanate of Oman.

The osprey is a large bird of prey, distinguished for its white head, brown wings, powerful talons and yellowish eyes. It typically inhabits coastal areas and adjoining islands, feeding on surface fish.

Although globally classified as an endangered species, the osprey is deemed less vulnerable in the Sultanate of Oman. This makes the monitoring of the osprey in Oman an essential step towards seabird’s conservation.
