Iranian President receives Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs

 

Tehran, April 15 (ONA)---President Mahmoud Ahmadi Nejad of the Islamic Republic of Iran received in Karman city South of Iran today Yousuf bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs, who is currently visiting Iran.

 

    During the meeting he conveyed greetings of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to the Iranian President along with His Majesty's best wishes of continued progress for him and the Iranian people.

 

    On his turn, the Iranian president asked the Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs to convey his greetings to His Majesty the Sultan along with his best wishes to His Majesty and the Omani people continued progress under the wise leadership of His Majesty.

 

    During the meeting President Mahmoud Ahmadi Nejad emphasized on the necessity for continued consultation between the Sultanate and Iran to maintain security and stability in the region, "security in the region cannot be achieved except through regional cooperation", he said.

 

    He praised the continued cooperation and consultation between the Sultanate and Iran, stressing that cooperation and continued visits between officials of the two countries contribute to strengthening the basis of peace and solidarity in the region.

 

  President Nejad affirmed the deep rooted relations and close ties between the two countries.

 

   On his part, the Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs stressed the Sultanate's policy that calls for enhancing relations with the Islamic Republic of Iran, noting that the two countries are always working in the interest of countries of the region and are looking forward to strengthening joint cooperation to serve the interest of the Omani and Iranian peoples.
