Sultanate and Iran Agreements and MoUs

 

Tehran, August 5 (ONA)--- As part of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said's visit to the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Sultanate and the Islamic Republic of Iran today signed at "Al Hafiziyah Palace" at Saad Abad Compound a number of agreements and Memoranda Of Understanding (MoU)in a number of fields.

 

     The government of the Sultanate of Oman and the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran signed a security cooperation and coordination agreement.

 

     The agreement was signed by Yousef bin Alawi bin Abdullah, Minister Responsible for Foreign Affairs on behalf of the Omani side and Manuchehr Mottaki, Iranian Foreign Minister on behalf of the Iranian government .

 

    The agreement is related to exchange of information, combating infiltration, smuggling and crime.

 

    Yousef bin Alawi bin Abdullah and Manuchehr Mottaki also signed an MoU between the Sultanate and the Islamic Republic of Iran on the establishment of an education centre to teach the Persian language in Muscat - under the supervision of the Ministry of Education.

 

   The two sides also signed the executive programme for cooperation in cultural, scientific, educational, media, social and sports fields.

 

   Yousef bin Alawi bin Abdullah and Manuchehr Mottaki also signed the minutes of the meeting and exchanged the documents of the avoidance of double taxation agreement which covers taxes resulting from the investments between the government of the Sultanate and the government of the Islamic Republic of Iran.    

  

   The agreement was signed by Maqbool bin Ali Sultan, Minister of Commerce and Industry and chairman of Oman Oil Company (OOC) on behalf of the Omani side and Ghulam Hussein Nozari, Iranian Oil Minister on behalf of the Iranian side.

 

   It is worth mentioning that Hurmuz Petrochemical Company was set up as a joint venture to develop the project. Oman Oil Company strives to make this project just a start for other project in Iran.
