Majlis A'Shura Office/Meeting
Muscat, March 9 (ONA)--The Majlis A'Shura Office today, held its seventh regular meeting of the third annual sitting (2009-2010) of the sixth term under the chair of Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed al Isa'ee, Chairman of the Majlis A'Shura. The meeting approved minutes of previous meeting, reviewed follow-up implementation of decisions taken by the Majlis Office. It also reviewed a number of social and economic issues in agriculture, housing, industry, health and education fields. It also approved a number of parliamentary questions raised by members of Majlis A'Shura to some governmental departments. The Majlis office decided to hold the sixth and seventh sessions of Majlis A'Shura on 23rd and 24th March. It also fixed the agenda of the sessions. In terms of the Sisterly and Friendly parliamentary cooperation, Majlis A'Shura office reviewed a number of letters and invitations on parliamentary cooperation. It also reviewed the invitations extended to Majlis A'Shura to take part in forthcoming parliamentary conferences. During the meeting, Majlis A'Shura Office also reviewed a number of governmental responses on issues of interest for the Omani society in the light of the studies undertaken by Majlis A'Shura to be submitted to the government. The Office also reviewed the outcome of the 16th conference of the Arab Parliamentary Union (APU), which was held recently in Cairo and the positive decisions, which were taken to support the Palestinian people and Palestinian Cause. It is wroth mentioning that during the conference, the chairmanship of the Arab Parliamentary Union was swapped to Palestine after the Sultanate chaired the Union and made great efforts that were praised by chairmen of the Arab parliaments during Cairo conference. ----Ends/MS/
