Oman National Museum Building Agreement
Muscat, Mar 9 (ONA)---Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq al Said, Minister of Heritage and Culture signed here today an agreement worth RO.11.949,820 million to establish Oman National Museum building in the Wilayat of Muscat. The project aims to maintain Oman historical heritage, which dates back to about six thousands years, highlights the Sultanate's civilizational, historical and cultural background by familiarizing visitors with the Sultanate's historical landmarks, unique architectural engineering models, valuable manuscripts, distinguished traditional costumes, lovely music and rich culture. The engineering design of Oman National Museum to be built on 13,757 Square meter couples with the unique architectural elements with Oman beautiful architectural elements which the city of Muscat is renowned with and its surround natural landmarks. The National Museum building will comprise the latest State-of-art technologies and means of presentation as per international standards. The Museum is expected to be opened before the public by end of 2011. The Museum will also be furnished with the latest technologies that enable it to accommodate exhibitions, stage educational programmes, lectures, seminars and researches. It also includes the educational hall and class rooms with latest equipment, main lecture hall, which accommodates 80 people, two attached lecture rooms each of which accommodates 35 persons. The rooms will be equipped with instant translation facilities. The Museum also accommodates halls for temporary exhibitions with open space to meet the various shows requirements. It is also equipped with the latest lighting and show facilities. It is worth noting that the Heritage and Culture Ministry is currently supervising seven specialized museums. As such, the Ministry hopes that Oman National Museum will promote the museum services in the Sultanate. ---Ends/Muk
