Tourism Guidance/Workshop
Muscat, Feb 8 (ONA)---A specialized workshop on 'Tourism Guidance' was held at Oman Tourism College today. The event which was organized by the Tourism Ministry in which a number of establishments from the Public and Private sectors took part aimed at educating and training the national cadres who are capable of establishing a sustainable qualitative tourism environment, as well as, promoting services availed by the private sector. The workshop covered a number of working papers and lectures, such as, reviewing the tourism guide traits in terms of contact language, understanding, his cultural and tourism knowledge, credibility, expertise, quick reaction and responsibility. A working paper was presented by Dr. Ross Dawling, the expert in international tourism on enhancing the tourist's experience and principles of rendering the tourism guidance services. More than 300 participants took part in the workshop, including tourism guides at the travel and tourism bureaus, tourism students at the Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), Oman Tourism College, the Applied Science College and officials at the Tourism Ministry and the Tourism Guidance Committee. ---Ends/Muk
