Muscat, Feb 12 (ONA)----Prof. Ali al-Amin Ali al-Mazroui the Director of the Institute of Global Cultural Studies at Binghamton University delivered a lecture entitled " Islam in the 21st Century : Opportunities and Challenges" at Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque in Bausher this evening.
Prof. Al-Mazroui addressed in his lecture the new challenges facing Islam in the twenty-first century and its rapid changes that Muslims should keep up with a degree of unity, brotherhood and harmony by taking the initiative to achieve Islamic unity and establish a unified centre for issuing fatwas.
He stressed the need to change the education system in the Islamic countries, so that they can keep up with the progress enjoyed by this period.
Prof. Al- Mazroui also addressed the main features of the current international situation and technology trends and how to complete technological development as a means of achieving progress in Islamic countries. He addressed the role of woman in society and that she should not deviate from that role defined to her by Islam which calls for the need to carry out the duties within the limits of Islamic law.
